This week I wrote a little post at TicketCity on Beyoncé’s impact after she announced her Halftime Performance at the Christmas Day Ravens-Texans matchup. I included a few quick visualizations, not really to make a point about the event, but to showcase the volume of data TicketCity is collecting from the secondary marketplace.
Each of the green dots in the chart above shows the average section price on the given timestamp. Each of those averages accounts for many tickets in a section. We’re collecting the entire marketplace snapshot at least twice a day for most events and often much more.
We’re just starting to make interesting use of this data. Right now we’re using it to supplement market conditions for our internal pricing team, but I’m excited to eventually bring this insight to our web customers.
